Ostrall earns nothing from the links in its results. We are not a member of any affiliate program, and no retailer pays us to appear in our results or to rank higher. Retailers can pay a flat fee to appear in a separate list labelled "Sponsored" under the search box; see below.
How Ostrall links to retailers
When you choose a seller, Ostrall sends you to that retailer's own website, where you buy directly from them. Today those are plain links: they don't carry a tracking code that identifies Ostrall, and the retailer doesn't pay us when you buy.
If that changes
To keep Ostrall free, we may later join affiliate programs run by retailers or networks. If we do:
- some links will earn us a commission when you buy. You will not pay any more because of it;
- we will update this page first, list the programs we belong to, and add the wording those programs require. For example, as an Amazon Associate we would state that we earn from qualifying purchases;
- links that can earn us money will be clearly identified on the page where they appear, as US Federal Trade Commission guidelines require.
Sponsored listings
While you type in the search box, Ostrall may show a list labelled "Sponsored". Those retailers paid a flat fee, the same for every sponsor, to be shown for the words you typed (see Advertise). Each product is listed with every sponsoring retailer that sells it, cheapest total price first. Sponsored listings are advertising, are always labelled, and are kept apart from Ostrall's results. Their links go straight to the retailer and carry the "sponsored" marker search engines expect.
Our ranking promise
Ostrall ranks sellers by what matters to you: the right product, the price delivered to your door, and the seller's record. Whether a retailer pays us, by commission or for a sponsored listing, will never decide a product's or a seller's position in our results, and we will never hide a cheaper seller because it doesn't pay us.
